The Opportunity

 

The Contracts Administrator will report on and be responsible for the quality and management of the contracting and procurement, and day to day commercial function for a particular portfolio of projects with Resolution Copper.

 

 

What the role entails

 

Supervise and oversee the EPCM project contract management and procurement activities to assist in the achievement of project completion safely, on time, within budget compliant with quality requirements all whilst ensuring the protection of the commercial interests of Rio Tinto by:

  • Being conversant with the relevant Rio Tinto suite of model contract documents (Construction, Supply & Manufacture and Service Contracts as well as Purchase, Service and Minor orders), including the ability to interpret, review and enforce all contractual terms contained in those documents;

  • Ensuring the proper implementation of the suite of construction contract and purchase order documentation and associated procedures for each project;

  • Assessing project risks and incorporating appropriate contractual allocation of those risks.

  • Reviewing all documents from a construction perspective, and utilising this experience to ensure that Rio Tinto’s commercial position is optimised;

  • Participating in the assessment and selection of the key site contractors;

  • Reviewing and contributing to the development of project contracting strategies and plans;

  • Ensuring the contract and order documents are utilised appropriately by the EPCM project contracts team in full compliance with the relevant procedures;

  • Supervising the tendering, formal opening, evaluation and award of all project contracts and PO’s;

  • Supervising, administering and reporting on the contractual aspects of major contracts;

 

What you will need for this role

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in a business discipline

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial contract administration preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge in contract and shipping terminology, export documentation and letters of credit

  • Advanced level of competency in the use of spreadsheets in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Effective time management skills, detail oriented and the ability to manage complex tasks in a multi-tasking environment

  • Understanding of commodity market principles and dynamics

  • Knowledge of Financial Reporting and SAP an advantage

  • Demonstrated analytical thinking with strong numerical ability; Good communication and interpersonal skills
